PORT OF SHELTON LANDS NEW TENANT
Alpha Test Corporation, a material testing equipment manufacturing firm based out of Arizona, has located their operations to the Port of Shelton. Alpha Test contacted the Economic Development Council of Mason County last summer after an internet search narrowed their focus to Mason County. After a site visit to Mason County and other communities competing to attract this company, Alpha Test chose Mason County for its availability of an industrial building, internet connectivity provided by PUD No. 3, and the recreational opportunities that it provides. Matt Matayoshi, of the Economic Development Council of Mason County, said, "Having a turn key facility at the Port of Shelton was an essential component to recruiting this new company that further diversifies our economy." Alpha Test has successfully moved into their facility at the Port of Shelton which will be their main operations facility. They also have plans to hire up to 15 employees. The company is focused in a niche market that produces fire-pitch test probes for aerospace, semiconductors, and sensor applications. These patented miniature test probes are sold globally to the electronics manufacturing industry. Toby Tarzwell, of Alpha Test, found that Mason County is the right fit for their company. According to him, "Mason County did an excellent job of providing us with a presentation on how this community was the best choice for our company. The Port of Shelton and EDC have been great to work with."
The lease with Alpha Test brings the Port of Shelton occupancy at their Sanderson Field Business park, to nearly 100%.
